About me

I’ve always been passionate about healing and there are many ways of healing. At the age of ten, instinctively, I started to use dance as a way of healing inside. Without knowing much about life, I simply enjoyed the hours of dance classes as a distraction from the world.

When I had to decide a career path, I went for pharmacy, and I hoped that I could help people to heal using conventional medicines. I worked many years for a big pharmaceutical company, understanding the drugs and their side effects, and by doing this, I aimed to improve people’s lives and help them to heal.

In 2017 I got pregnant of my son, João. Living in Brazil meant that I was very likely to end up with an elective cesarean for no real medical reason and this was the last thing I wanted! I studied as much as I could and I’ve never stopped studying about birth since then. I had my son in April of 2018, via a gentle, despite emergency, c-section that saved his life. And just like dancing, being a mum was a new healing experience.

After João was born, I discovered a new passion: maternity and parenthood – which, as all parents know, is not always a bed of roses – but I adore being a mum most of the time. Being a mum made me feel the responsibility of the enormity of the task of raising a human and I do the best I can. I truly believe that raising children to be their best selves is a way of healing and making a better world. And the world I want is a world where every living being has the same level of importance. A world where people and animals can co-exist in harmony and are equally respected regardless of their colour, race, gender, age or even their species.

After understanding, in my own experience, that “to change the world, we must first change the way the babies are born” (Michel Odent date), my new path was obvious to me. In early 2020, just before the beginning of the pandemic, I started my journey as a doula, with Nurturing Birth, and as a Bach remedies therapist, with VitalWellbeing.

In April of 2021, my second child arrived to bless my life even more. Olivia was born at home, in a dream birth, and I had no more doubts: birth definitely has the power of healing.

Now, my time is divided between raising my kids to become the best humans they can be and supporting new families before, during and after birth.

In my free time, I enjoy exercising, reading – particularly about feminism and birth – and, if the kids go to bed reasonably early, I spend my spare hours at night watching films and series with the love of my life: my husband Ale.
